Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

We had a very busy week as we talked about Thanksgiving!  This week we made some "funky" looking turkeys, we cooked up some Apple Crisp to share with our families, and we wrote about why we are especially thankful for our families.

"The Turkeys"...
First, you trace your foot to make the body of the turkey!
Next, gather your paper to cut out feathers, eyes and a beak!

Then, we glue the feathers on, including the special feathers with what we are thankful for.

Cooking
Later this week, we learned how to make apple crisp.  We all got busy and cut up 3 apples each.
We were careful and watched our fingers.

We filled our containers to the brim!

Next, we sprinkled on the topping (which we made the day before!)
They are all ready for the oven!

They smelled SOOOOO good when they were baking!  Now they are ready to eat.  BUT we have to wait because we are taking them home to share with our families!

Here is the recipe!  I hope you try making another batch at home,

Here are our stories about why we are thankful for our families.  Before we started to write these stories we learned about planning our writing... first we brainstormed ideas together, then we shared our own ideas with a partner, then we made a web with 3 reasons why we are thankful for our families.  Lastly, we discussed "our introductions " or "topic sentences".  Finally we were ready to write!  Everyone worked so hard!  Enjoy reading them !
